Why do hamsters need exercise wheels?
Hamsters are very active creatures when they live in the wild. They spend most of their waking time scurrying around to gather food or dig burrows. When they are housed in a cage, this biological programming is not turned off!

How to choose the right hamster size?
- It is recommended that you choose a wheel of 9 inches for dwarf and Roborovski hamsters and at least 10.6 inches for larger Syrian and other larger hamsters.
- It’s really important that you don’t give your hamster a wheel that is too small for them. The larger a wheel is, the less the hamster has to arch its back and the more similar it is to running on flat ground in the wild.
The product came packaged very neatly and without damage. The wheel itself is quite heavy construction of thick, hard acrylic. I was initially concerned the construction was so heavy that my gerbils would not be strong enough to use it.
I was quickly proven wrong.
The adjustable base allows me to place the stand flat on the bottom of the cage without worrying about the gerbils burying it. It adjusts to about 6" above the base so I don't have to constantly dig their wheel.
I am always skeptical of buying things claiming "silent" operation, but this probably comes as close to silent as possible. The bearing is very heavy duty and it comes with a cork pad for the base as noise insulation. The only sound it makes is from their claws scraping for the first few seconds while they build up speed. I barely notice them using it, even in total silence. This is a wonderful product and will definitely be looking into other products from this brand
This wheel virtually has no noise at all. The only thing I can hear are my hamster’s paws. I’ve had several hamsters before, and only now have I built a “hamster mansion”. I’m VERY impressed with this wheel. It’s also big enough that it doesn’t bow my hamster’s back when running. Plus it looks very stylish.
